Navy provides Rs. 05 million for restoration of Deegawapiya Stupa

The inauguration ceremony of fundraising for restoration of Deegawapiya Stupa was held under the patronage of the President, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa at Sambodhi Viharaya, Colombo 07 today (12th February 2021). During this ceremony, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne handed over a symbolic cheque of Rs. 05 million to His Excellency the President, with a view to restore this most sacred pagoda with its former glory.

Commander of the Navy reviews final day of CONEX-21

The third edition of Colombo Naval Exercise -2021 (CONEX-21), hosted by Sri Lanka Navy, concluded on successful note on 10th February 2021. Meanwhile, the final day exercises of CONEX – 21 held in seas off Colombo for the third consecutive day were subjected to the review of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

The refurbishment work proposed under ‘Galle Face Green Project’, which is to be set in motion for the transformation of Galle Face promenade, was subjected to the inspection of the President His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa today (08th February 2021)./p>

CONEX – 21 gets underway

The official launching of Colombo Naval Exercise -2021 (CONEX-21), conducted by Sri Lanka Navy for the third consecutive year, was marked onboard Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Sayurala at the port of Colombo today (07th February 2021). The exercise is scheduled to be held in seas off Colombo from 08th to 10th of this month. Naval Fleet Command is entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the exercise and smooth execution of the planned serials in next three days.

Navy built RO plants in Ampara vested with the public

Four (04) more Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants, newly built as part of Naval Social Responsibility project in Padiyathalawa Divisional Secretariat, Ampara were declared open for community use on 04th February 2021. With these recent installations, the Navy has thus far set up a total of 817 Reverse Osmosis plants to fulfil safe drinking water requirement of the community who were deprived of such facilities.

Indonesian Naval Ship arrives at port of Hambantota

The Indonesian Naval Ship “KRI Bung Tomo” arrived at the port of Hambantota for a two day formal visit today (05th February 2021). Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the ship in keeping with the time honoured naval tradition.

On the sidelines of 73rd Independence Day celebrations Sri Lanka Navy staged an amphibious landing demonstration at the Galle Face Green, Colombo on 04th February 2021.
