First phase of Navy-built COVID-19 Intermediate Care Centre opened in Werellawatta

Sri Lanka Navy initiated the conversion of a closed factory in the Werellawatta area in Gampaha into a COVID-19 Intermediate Care Centre, strengthening the Government's programme to expand facilities required for the treatment of COVID-19 infected individuals. The first phase of this Intermediate Care Centre with 650 beds was inaugurated today (07th June 2021) under the patronage of the Minister of Health, Hon. Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

85’s old boys of Nalanda College provide supplies to COVID-19 Intermediate Care Centre in Boossa

The Old Boy’s Association (1985) of Nalanda College, Colombo provided essential supplies for the use of the Intermediate Care Centre for COVID-19 in Boossa, maintained by Sri Lanka Navy. The supplies were handed over to the Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Prasanna Hewage at the Command Headquarters on 03rd June 2021.

Navy Seva Vanitha Unit organizes blood donation campaign in Eastern Naval Command

Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) on 24th May 2021 organized a blood donation campaign in each Naval Command, going by an idea mooted by its President Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne. To coincide with this noble cause the blood donation programme in the Eastern Naval Command was held at the NSVU Preschool at SLNS ‘Tissa’ today (30th May 2021), with the attendance of Commander Eastern Naval Area, Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral YN Jayarathne.

Leading Woman Communicator Tehani Egodawela, serving in the Sri Lanka Navy, has qualified for Tokyo Olympics 2020 in the women's 10m air rifle 0.177 event.

Navy Seva Vanitha Unit organizes largest ever blood donation campaign

A blood donation campaign organized by the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), going by the directives of its President, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne, was held covering each Naval Command today (24th May 2021). Meanwhile, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne also took time off to call at the blood donation drive held at the Navy Headquarters.

Navy launches an apiculture project at Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee

The United Nations has declared May 20 as World Bee Day with the aim of promoting beekeeping around the world and to protect bee population. On the sidelines of this global event, Sri Lanka Navy introduced the 50th bee colony to the ‘Project Navy Bees’ run by Naval Dockyard Trincomalee on 20th May 2021, with the objective of popularizing beekeeping.

Series of events organized to commemorate naval war veterans

To coincide with the 12th National War Heroes’ Day, the Navy organized its main event to commemorate naval war veterans, under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Naval War Hero Monument in Welisara on 19th May 2021. On the sidelines of this, a series of programmes to recall the cherished memory of fallen combatants of the Navy were held in Naval Commands.

Boossa Intermediate Care Centre receives medical supplies for COVID-19 treatment

The Bishop of Galle, Most Rev. Raymond Wickramasinghe handed over a stock of medical supplies to Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Prasanna Hewage on 19th May 2021. These items will be used for the treatment of patients at the Intermediate Care Centre for COVID-19, managed by Sri Lanka Navy in Boossa, Galle.
