Commander of the Navy attends series of programmes graced by Hon. Prime Minister to mark World Children’s Day and 125th anniversary of LRH

The ceremonial event to mark the World Children’s Day that falls today (01st October) and 125th anniversary of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH) for Children was graced by the Prime Minister, Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa and the occasion was also attended by Commander of the Navy Vice, Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

Commander of the Navy attends ceremony organized by ‘Senehasa’ on World Children’s Day

The annual event organized by the ‘Senehasa’ Education Resource Research and Information Center to unveil the talents of its children with special needs, on the sidelines of the World Children's Day, was held today (01st October 2020) under the patronage of the First Lady, Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa. This special occasion was also attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and the President of Navy Seva Vanith unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne.

Ranaviru Seva Authority launches mobile service for the benefit of war hero families

The Ranaviru Seva Authority has made arrangements to launch a mobile service for the welfare of the families of war heroes from tri-services, Police and Civil Security Department, whom were killed, disabled, went missing in action as well as those who have been retired from service. Accordingly, this initiative is set to get off the ground on 03rd October 2020, from 0800hrs to 1700hrs at the Gajaba Regimental HQ Saliyapura, under the precedence of Secretary Defence, Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne, tri-service commanders and acting Inspector General of Police.

Poppy Flower pinned on Commander of the Navy

In concurrent with the Poppy project organized by the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association to coincide with the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations-2020 which falls on 08th November, a poppy flower was pinned on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne by the President of Sri Lanka Naval Association Admiral (Rtd) Daya Sandagiri and the President of Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association Major General (Rtd) Upul Perera at the Navy Headquarters, today (29th September 2020).

Navy beach cleaning programmes coincide with National Marine Resources Conservation Week

On the sidelines of International Coastal Cleanup Day, a National Marine Resources Conservation Week had been declared under the theme 'Clean Sea – A Clean Beach'. Filled with overwhelming compassion towards such initiatives, Sri Lanka Navy also conducted a number of clean-up campaigns at beaches around the island.
