Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command apprehended 38 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing practices using unauthorised fishing nets, at two separate locations yesterday (June, 17).

Ayagama Bridge vested in the public in Rathnapura
 

The ‘Welamiriya Suspension Bridge’ which sustained damages inflicted by the recent flash floods, was reconstructed and ceremonially declared open for the community use by the Navy, today (June, 16) in Ayagama. The bride is located at Kavittigoda belonging to the MedagalakuraGramaNiladhari Division in Ayagama, Rathnapura.

On receipt of information to the Navy, a group of naval personnel attached to the North Western Naval Command in coordination with Police Narcotic division, Mannar nabbed a suspect with 142 kg of Kerala cannabis while transferring on a motor bike in Marichchikatti, Karadakkuliya beach area in Silawathura today (16th June).
