Second phase of Indian – SL Navy Joint Hydrographic Survey comes to successful end
 

The second phase of Indian – SL Navy Joint Hydrographic Survey which got off the ground on 26 October 2017 with the arrival of Indian Naval Ship Sutlej in Sri Lanka, came to a successful end today (19 December).

Thirty nine Midshipmen commissioned as Naval Officers at Naval & Maritime Academy in Trincomalee
 

Thirty nine Midshipmen belonging to the 54th and 56th Cadet Entry Intakes and 31st Intake of Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, on successful completion of their basic training at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee as well as onboard various naval ships, were commissioned at a colourful commissioning parade held at the main parade ground of the NMA on 18th December 2017.

Defence Secretary visits Eastern Naval Command
 

The Secretary to the Minister of Defence, Mr.Kapila Waidyaratne PC together with madam Waidyarathna who arrived in Trincomalee yesterday (18 December) to grace the Midshipmen’s Commissioning Parade which is scheduled to be held at the Naval and Maritime Academy this evening, took time off to pay a visit at the Eastern Naval Command.

Sri Lanka Navy assists National Oil Spill Combat Exercise (SPILLEX 2017)
 

Continuing her responsibility on the imperative matters of Maritime affairs, Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance in the National Oil Spill Combat Exercise (SPILLEX 2017) which was organized by Marine Environment Protection Authority, at the seas off Colombo harbour and the Galle Face, on 14th and 15th December.

The Bangladesh Coast Guard ships Mansoor Ali and Kamaruzzaman which arrived in Sri Lanka on a goodwill visit last 16th December, departed the Colombo harbour today (18 December) on successful completion of tour events.

Navy undertakes cleaning; Pahala Wewa in Anuradhapura breathes again
 

Navy undertook cleaning of Pahala Wewa in Anuradhapura, which lies connected to the brook that carries water from Nachchaduwa Wewa to Kala Wewa and made sure uninterrupted downstream of its water, during the last couple of days.
