Foundation stone laid for new Directorate of Naval Design Complex

The foundation stone was laid for the new office complex of the newly-established Directorate of Naval Design by the Director General Engineering, Commodore Ravindra Ranasinghe on 16th August 2017 at the Welisara Naval Complex. The office complex will enable the new directorate, which is established in accordance with the Commander of the Navy’s vision to modernize the naval fleet, to lead the ship design dimensions of the Sri Lanka Navy.

Naval personnel attached to the Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) rescued two persons who were drowning at the Gregory Lake, Nuwara Eliya having fallen from a Jet Ski watercraft this evening (17th August 2017).

Navy apprehends 03 fishermen with 578 kg of sea cucumber

Naval personnel onboard a Fast Attack Craft attached to the Nothern Naval Command arrested 03 fishermen with their dinghy for engaging in illegal harvesting of sea cucumber in the sea area about 7.5 nautical miles north of Point Pedro Lighthouse today (16 August 2017).

Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command arrested 04 fishermen for engaging in illegal fishing activities using unauthorized fishing nets in the sea area of Punneyadi, Muttur today (16 August 2017).

Navy arrests 09 persons for causing destruction to fish breeding grounds in northern seas

Naval personnel deployed onboard Inshore Patrol Craft attached to the Northern Naval Command with the assistance of the Coastguard took into custody nine (09) persons along with four (04) Fibre Glass Dinghies (FGDs) for causing destruction to fish breeding grounds and illegal fishing in the seas north-east of Point Pedro today (15 August 2017).

Navy arrests 13 persons engaged in illegal fishing

Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command arrested 13 persons engaged in illegal fishing in the seas off Kokilai and Kokkuthuduwai today (15 August 2017). One hundred (100) kilogrammes of fish along with 03 Fibre Glass Dinghies and fishing gear used for the illegal act were also taken into naval custody during the arrest.

First poppy flower presented to Navy Commander

Sri Lanka Naval Association launched its poppy campaign today (15 August 2017) with its President Admiral (retd) Daya Sandagiri presenting the first poppy flower to the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo.

Coastguard personnel arrest a person with 10 kg of turtle meat

Coastguard personnel stationed at Chilaw with the assistance of the Wennappuwa Police arrested a person possessing 10 kilograms of turtle meat yesterday (14 August 2017) at Ulhitiyawa during a special search operation conducted based on naval intelligence.
