Navy Commander makes his first official visit to Eastern Naval Command
 

Having taken over command, the new Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah made his first official visit to the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) today (26th August 2017).

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy on 25th August 2017 and called on the Mahanayakes of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters to receive their blessings on his new appointment.

Warmly welcoming the media personnel representing the respective media institutions to the Naval Headquarters for the media briefing held today (23 August 2017), the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah stated that he was very much pleased with the opportunity to address them after his assumption of duties as the 21st Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, which has a strong legacy well proven in battle.

Navy renders assistance to nab 4 suspects attempted to sell 4 copper plates by illegal means
 

On receipt of intelligence information to the Navy, a group of naval personnel attached to the Western Naval Command in coordination with Police Special Task Force nabbed 4 suspects who attempted to sell 4 copper plates with historic value, during a search carried out today (22 August 2017).

Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah assumes duties as the 21st Commander of the Navy
 

His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, has been pleased to appoint Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah, WWV, RWP, RSP and 2 Bar, USP, ctfndu, psc, MSc (D&SS), Dip in IR, MUSNI, as the new Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy and promote him to the 3-star rank of Vice Admiral with effect from 22nd August 2017.

Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne assumes duties as CDS
 

The President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena promoted the former Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne to the 4-star rank of Admiral and appointed him as the Chief of Defence Staff with effect from 22nd August 2017.

Five persons arrested for engaging in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to the North Western Naval Command arrested 5 persons for engaging in illegal fishing practices using unauthorized fishing nets in the sea area between Odakkarativu and Sinna Erumativu in Kalpitiya yesterday (21 August 2017).
