Two Japanese naval ships arrive at the Port of Colombo
 

Two Japan Maritime Self Defence Force ships, "JS Makinami (DD-112)" and "JS Suzunami (DD-114)", arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill visit on 11th April 2016.

SLNS Samudura leaves for Indonesia to take part in “Exercise Komodo -2016”
 

Sri Lanka Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessel, SLNS Samudura left for Indonesia from Port of Colombo on 05th April 2016, to take part in the multilateral naval exercise “Komodo” and “International Fleet Review” (IFR) 2016. Samudura arrived in Port of Teluk Bayur, Padang Indonesia on 10th April and was ceremonially welcomed in accordance with the Indonesian traditions. Crew of Samudura is comprised with 186 officers and sailors.

Naval personnel nab four local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Buwaneka in Nachchikuda arrested four local fishermen, engaged in illegal fishing using unauthorized nets in the seas off South of Iranathivu on 09th April 2016. During the arrest, 2 FGD and 3 Monofilament nets used for fishing were taken into custody.

Navy Seva Vanitha New Year Trade Fair is held at SLNS Parakrama
 

The New Year Trade Fair, organized under the patronage of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne, was commenced at SLNS Parakrama on 9th April 2016.

Ninety-six Indian and nine Sri Lankan fishermen are repatriated
 

Sri Lanka Navy assisted the repatriation of 96 Indian fishermen, released from Sri Lankan custody by providing them with safe passage onboard Sri Lanka Naval Ship Ranavijaya and Sri Lanka Coast Guard Vessel CG 43 on 9th April 2016. The apprehended Indian fishermen were handed over to the Indian Coast Guard Ships ‘Rani Durgavathi’ and ‘Abheek’ at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) off Kankasanturei.

The Inspector General of Police calls on the Commander of the Navy
 

The outgoing Inspector General of Police (IGP) NK Illangakoon called on the

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters today (8) The IGP was awarded with a Guard of Honour on his arrival. The Commander of the Navy praised the exemplary character shown by the IGP during his five year tenure in the highest seat in the Department of Police.

Naval troops attached to SLNS Buwaneka in North Central Naval Command arrested 4 local fishermen engaged in illegal harvesting of sea cucumbers in the Southern seas of Iranathivu, yesterday (7).

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Uththara in Kankasanthurai arrested 11 local fishermen, engaged in illegal fishing using many diving equipment in the seas off East of Point Pedro on 6th April 2016.

Nine Indian fishermen arrested in Northern seas

Sri Lanka Navy assisted the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to arrest nine Indian fishermen along with an Indian fishing trawler poaching in Sri Lankan waters West of Analathiu Island on 7th April 2016.
