As a result of the adverse weather condition which wracked havoc on most parts of the Island during the last few days a large number of people who lived in Kelani Valley area were victimized by floods and became displaced ultimately.

On receipt of information, naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijayaba in Nilaveli belonging to the Eastern Naval Command arrested 7 persons engaged in illegal fishing activities using explosive in the sea area North of Erakkandi on 24th May 2016.

Indian and Sri Lanka Navies conduct combined health camps for people affected by floods
A series of health camps were conducted by the Medical Officers along with Medical Assistants of the Sri Lanka Navy in Biyagama, Wellampitiya, Malwana, Mapitigama, Orugodawatta, Kaduwela and Awissawella areas from 20th to 22nd May 2016, in order to look into the health status of people who were affected by floods.
