Naval personnel attached to SLNS Kalani in Pamunugama in the Western Naval Command apprehended two persons who were transporting 4.7 kg of Kerala Cannabis in the general area of Wattala yesterday (12).

Navy installs a Reverse Osmosis Plant at Hambegamuwa

As yet another project of the Sri Lanka Navy’s community service programmes carried out with the intention of preventing Chronic Kidney Disease, a Reverse Osmosis system was installed at the premises of Hambegamuwa Rajamaha Viharaya for the community use and it was declared open Project Director of the Presidential Task force on Prevention of Kidney Disease, Mr. Asela Iddawela yesterday (12).

“Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy” is appointed for the first time in naval history

Acting upon a concept of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the latest position, “Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy”, for the sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy was formed and Master Chief Petty Officer TG Neelkaru XS 15959 was appointed as the first ever “Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy” by Commander of the Navy today (11).

Navy arrests 10 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijayaba located in Nilaweli in the Eastern Naval Command apprehended 10 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using Monofilament Nets in the seas off Irankeini yesterday (8).
