Rear Admiral Lalith Dissanayaka took over the command of North Central Naval Command as its new Area Commander on 31st January 2020. He served as the Director General Administration at the Naval Headquarters on his previous appointment.

SLNS Sindurala nominated as the Best Ship of 2019
SLNS Sindurala, A 521 and P 450 belonging to the SL Navy were respectively nominated as the Best Ship, the Best Small Ship and the Best Fast Attack Craft for the year 2019. The plaques engraved with a star mark were awarded to the wining craft by the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, on 31 January 2020.
