Rear Admiral Upul De Silva assumes duties as Commander Western Naval Area

Rear Admiral Upul De Silva assumed duties as Commander Western Naval Area at the Command Headquarters today (18^th May 2021).

He held office as Director General Personnel at Navy Headquarters prior being appointed as Commander Western Naval Area. The incoming Area Commander was received to the Western Naval Command, according him a Guard of Honour in compliance with naval traditions. Thereupon, his predecessor Rear Admiral Meril Sudarshana relinquished his duties handing over the command to Rear Admiral Upul De Silva.

Marking his departure from the Western Naval Command, the outgoing Area Commander was also accorded a Guard of Honour in precision with naval customs, after the officers and sailors extended best wishes to him in appreciation of the service he rendered.
