Navy finds 18 live hand grenades at Pudukuduirippu

The Navy unearthed 18 live hand grenades, during a coordinated search conducted with the Police at Pudukuduirippu on 29^th January 2020.

During a coordinated search carried out with the Police STF in the general area of Pudukuduirippu, the Navy managed to find these 18 live hand grenades hidden underground by the side of a road. Among the explosive items recovered were; 16 SFG live hand grenades and 02 M 75 live hand grenades. It is believed that these hand grenades might have been left behind by the enemy during the humanitarian operation.

The 18 live hand grenades were handed over to the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Kilinochchi STF for onward action.
