The Navy has been able to convert the manually operated 40mm/L60 weapon onboard SLNS Samudura to electrical operation, with the help improved technology in naval armament.

Naval Special Warfare Maritime Security Course successfully terminated
“Naval Special Warfare Maritime Security Course 2019” which was conducted as a Subject Matter Expert Exchange programme by United States Navy, 4th Fast Attack Flotilla and Special Boat Squadron of Sri Lanka Navy was successfully concluded on 13th December 2019 with a certificate awarding ceremony.

Defence Secretary visits Northern Naval Command
The Secretary to Ministry of Defence Major General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) made an official visit to the Northern Naval Command on 12th December 2019. He was accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, and Commanders of the Army and Air Force.

Junior Sailors’ Mess in Northern Naval Command declared open by Commander of the Navy
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva made an official visit to the Northern Naval Command on 12th December 2019. During this visit, the Navy Commander declared open the first phase of the three-storeyed building at the Command Headquarters.
