“Yalpanam Food Fiesta” culinary competition - 2019 held in Northern Naval Command

The Culinary Competition – 2019 under the theme of ‘Yalpanam Food Fiesta’ was held at SLNS Uththara on 09^th November 2019.

All establishments, ships and craft belonging to the Northern Naval Command took part in the event which has been organized to improve culinary skills and ingenuity of individuals in the field. Moreover, innovation in food preparation, enhancing team work and competitiveness, identifying skills and expanding capacities in order to improve quality of food preparation among naval personnel were also main concerns of this event.

Every team showed keen interest in maintaining the glamour and competitiveness, resulting in successful completion of the event. The Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera graced the occasion as Chief Guest and senior officers representing Sri Lanka Army, Air Force, Police and government organizations in the area also attended to witness this colourful event.

From a wide variety of events, the Fast Gun Boats representing the Northern Fleet was adjudged Best Team in terms of overall performance. Deputy Chief of Staff also gave away prizes to those who excelled in the competition.
