Navy assists the series of Buddhist religious activities conducted at Nagadeepa Vihara
The series of Buddhist religious activities organized to commemorate the late Chief Incumbent of Nagadeepa Purana Raja Maha Viharaya Ven. Brahmanawatte Dammakiththi Tissa Thero and to celebrate the 59th birthday of the present Chief Incumbent Praveenacharya Damma Kiththi Sri Ven. Navadagala Paduma Kiththi Tissa Thero- the Chief Sanganayake of the Northern Province was held at the temple premises on 2nd and 3rd April.
“Kavi Bana” Damma Deshana which was conducted in parallel to this series of Buddhist religious activities and also Alms giving and other offerings for Mahasanga were well contributed by large number of naval personnel attached to the Northern Naval Command. A free meal stall (Dansala) for pilgrims and the residents of the area had also been organized.
Commander Northern Naval Area Rear Admiral Meril Wickramasinghe, Heads of Departments in the Northern Naval Command and Commanding Officers of the naval bases in the Northern Naval Area, other officers and large number of sailors were also present at these religious events. The Chief Incumbent evoked blessings on the Northern Naval Command and entire Navy as well for the contribution provided by the Navy at these meritorious religious rituals.
