Navy yachts men record a number of victories at ‘Dunlop Bell Sailing Championship – 2018’

The Dunlop Bell Sailing Championship - 2018 organized by the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka was conducted in the seas off the Crow Island, Mattakkuliya on 15th and 16th February. Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, as the Chief Guest, graced the closing ceremony of the event that was held on 16th February.

The event was contested by 98 local and overseas sailors along with 62 yachts, representing a number of sailing clubs including the Navy Sailing Club, Colombo Motor Yacht Club, Royal Colombo Yacht Club, Bentota Windsurfing Club and fledgling sailors from Royal College in Colombo and St. Thomas’ College in Mt. Lavinia.

Producing scintillating performances throughout the competition, the Navy Sailing Club secured 1st, 2nd and 4th places in GP 14 event, 2nd and 3rd places in Enterprise category, 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in Laser Standard category, 3rd place in Laser Radial category and 1st and 3rd places in Wind Surfing category. Accordingly, they managed to clinch the overall championship of the tournament after recording the most number of wins at the ‘Dunlop Bell Sailing Championship – 2018’
