Navy bids farewell to Rear Admiral Sisira Jayakody
 

The Director General Personnel and Chief Hydrography Officer of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Sisira Jayakody bade farewell to the Navy today (31 August 2017).

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah along with Director Generals of the Navy extended best wishes to Rear Admiral Sisira Jayakody, who is also celebrating his 55th birthday today. Subsequently, the senior officer, who retired on completion of 35 years of illustrious naval career, was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. Fellow naval officers and sailors, making a street line, saluted the retiring senior officer in gratitude to the exceptional service rendered during his decades-long naval career. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Jayakody was sent off according to naval customs, mounted on a decorated vehicle amidst the cheers wishing him fair winds and following seas.

Rear Admiral Sisira Jayakody joined the Navy as a cadet officer of the 2nd intake of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy in 1981. He pioneered many notable projects for the benefit of the Navy and the country at large. He also held a number of key appointments during his unblemished naval career.
