Navy transfers a heart patient ashore for emergency medical treatment
 

The Sri Lanka Navy being the competent authority in maintaining the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) for the ocean and seas around Sri Lanka rendered assistance to transfer a crew member of the Merchant Vessel “Venus R” who had a heart ailment onboard. He was safely brought to Hambantota harbour by Fast Attack Craft P 464 for emergency medical treatment in the morning of 28th January 2016.

Following a request made by the vessel enroute to Singapore from Kuwait, the Southern Naval Command on the directive of the Naval Headquarters dispatched a Fast Attack Craft (FAC) to the location 30 Nautical Miles South of Hambantota for the transfer of the patient. He was sent to the Base Hospital Hambantota for immediate medical treatment.
