Related to the news release under the title ‘Navy brings ashore a fisherman injured at high seas for treatment’ on 04th June 2021

Sri Lanka Navy rushed the severely injured fisherman to the hospital for treatment, upon he was brought ashore today (05th June 2021). The fisherman onboard a local multi-day fishing trawler had been in critical condition due to a severe injury while at high seas, about 345 nautical miles (about 638km) from the Great Basses Lighthouse to the southeast of Sri Lanka.

Reaching the high seas yesterday around 1130 hrs, Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) ‘Sayura’ fetched the fisherman who was in critical condition with severe injury to a leg following an accident while at sea, from the multi-day fishing trawler ‘Du Bhashi’ (Register No: IMUL-A-0928 MTR). After having retrieved the patient, SLNS ‘Sayura’ was cruising ashore, administering first aid to the fisherman with injuries.

Subsequently, the patient was brought to the seas off Dondra this afternoon (05th June) by SLNS Sayura. Thereupon, the injured fisherman was transferred to an SLN Fast Attack Craft and brought to Galle harbour before he was rushed to the Karapitiya Hospital for further treatment.
