Navy relief teams deployed to respond to flood emergency

Sri Lanka Navy today (03rd June 2021) pre-deployed 05 relief teams in several localities in the Southern and Western Provinces, to respond to possible floods triggered by heavy rains in many areas across the island.

In the backdrop where the water levels of Gin Ganga and Kalu Ganga are on the rise following torrential rains, the Southern Naval Command deployed 03 flood relief teams in Thawalama, Hiniduma and Eppala areas to provide relief in flood emergencies. In the same vein, the Western Naval Command sent out 02 more relief teams to Paragoda in Bulathsinhala as well as at Divisional Secretariat of Bulathsinhala to provide relief measures to the public during possible floods.

In addition, the Navy stands ready to deploy additional relief teams at will, in a bid to provide relief promptly to the community affected by adverse weather condition.
