Navy releases 08 sea turtles entangled in fishing net

The Navy patrolling off south of Mannar released 08 sea turtles, having found them entangled in a fishing net, on 28th November 2020.

When observed a bale of sea turtles trapped in a fishing net cast in south of Mannar sea area, the North Central Naval Command patrolling the aforesaid sea area saved those marine turtles form their desperate plight and released them back to the ocean, with the assistance of fishermen.

Furthermore, the Navy is constantly contributing to the conservation of these endangered sea turtles and the conservation of the biodiversity of the marine ecosystem.
