Eastern Naval Command organizes blood donation campaign

The Eastern Naval Command organized a blood donation campaign at the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee recently, as part of its events held in parallel with the 71st anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy.

The initiative was set in motion on 17th December 2021 following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and under the guidance of Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sanjeewa Dias. The prime motive of this magnanimous deed was to replenish blood stocks at Blood Transfusion Centre in the District General Hospital-Trincomalee. Responding to this need of the hour, a number of naval personnel attached to fleet units and establishments in the Eastern Naval Command donated blood voluntarily.

The donation campaign was held adhering to COVID-19 protocols and it was well supported by a group of Navy medical staff personnel.
