Navy’s 880th Reverse Osmosis Plant declared open at Bogaswewa Maha Vidyalaya, Vavuniya

Another Reverse Osmosis plant installed as part of Naval Social Responsibility initiatives at the Bogaswewa Maha Vidyalaya, Vavuniya was declared open by Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Bandula Senarathne today (25th October 2021).

As a result of the initiatives of the Ministry of Health and the sponsorship made by Mr. and Mrs. TB Wijesinghe, the uncle and aunt of Vice Admiral (Rtd) SMB Weerasekara and his well-wishing family members, the 880th Reverse Osmosis plant was made available for the use of school children at Bogaswewa Maha Vidyalaya and general public in the area. Sri Lanka Navy is determined to continue with the project in a bid to provide safe drinking water to the people in kidney prone areas, as a national level partner in the process of eradicating chronic kidney disease from Sri Lanka.

The opening of the facility was held in accordance with health and safety guidelines due to existing COVID-19 concerns and the event was attended by the Principal, Staff, a group of children of Bogaswewa Maha Vidyalaya, naval personnel attached to the Command and a limited number of residents.
