Second week of special Pirith chanting begins to invoke blessings on country

The second stage of three-week long continuous Pirith chanting at the Independence Square commenced for its second week in coordination with Sri Lanka Navy. This meritorious event which got underway with the aim of invoking blessings on the country and its people plagued by novel coronavirus was attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne on 25th November 2020.

During the second week of the Navy-coordinated 'Pirith' chanting, the Western Naval Command is organizing a wide range of matters and Navy Seva Vanitha Unit is looking after the offering of morning ‘Kiri Ahara Pooja’, mid-day ‘Buddha Pooja’ and evening ‘Gilanpasa Pooja’ showing a lot of pious sentiments.

Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines for the prevention of COVID-19, the Navy has also stationed a team of medics, an ambulance, sanitizers and temperature measuring devices at the Independence Square.

The occasion was attended by distinguished invitees, President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne, Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe, senior members of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit and a group of naval personnel.
