Navy bids farewell to Rear Admiral Lalith Dissanayake

After completion of nearly 34 years of distinguished career, Rear Admiral Lalith Dissanayake retired from naval service, effective from today (08th October 2020).

The retiring senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today received warm wishes from Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and Director Generals of the Navy, making the event more memorable. Subsequently, Rear Admiral Dissanayake was accorded a Guard of Honour in compliance with naval traditions before fellow naval officers, gathered at the portal of the Navy Headquarters, extending best wishes to the outgoing senior officer. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Dissanayake was sent off from the Navy Headquarters .

Rear Admiral Lalith Dissanayake joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1986 and held key appointments such as the Director Naval Welfare, Deputy Area Commander Southern Naval Area, Director Naval Weapon, Chief Instructor Defence Services Command and Staff College, Director General Administration and Commander North Central Naval Area, during his decades-long naval career.
