Navy becomes overall champ of National Canoe Sprint Championship
 

Sri Lanka Navy Canoeing Pool emerged with the overall championship and other several positions at the 2nd National Canoe Sprint Championship which worked off on the waters of Diyawannawa on 23rd and 24th April.

The championship was conducted under categories of K 1, K 2, K 4 and C 1 and Navy contestants were talented enough to secure 7 Gold medals out of 10 allocated for these categories. In addition, 3 Silver medals, 2 Bronze medals and 3 Silver medals from women events have been seized by the sailors.

Accordingly, at present, the national records of the events 200m under K 2 category and 100m under K 4 category which were conducted for the first time, are held by SL Navy team. Leading Seaman (SBS) Buddhika Idunil Wijerathna of SL Navy was adjudged as the Best Oarsman in the championship.
