Pakistan Naval Ship ‘Zulfiquar’ arrives at Port of Colombo with flood relief materials
 

Pakistan Naval Ship (PNS) ‘Zulfiquar’ arrived at the Port of Colombo today (30) to assist in relief operations for the community hard hit by the adverse weather in the island nation.

The ship is commanded by Captain Faisal Javeed and consists a crew of 46 officers and 241 sailors. This also includes 3 teams of medical personnel. Along with the on-board crew, a large stock of essential commodities such as; dry ration, bottles of drinking water and medicine had been channelled to Sri Lanka.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, H.E. Dr. Sarfraz Ahmed Khan Sipra, Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle, officers from the Naval Headquarters were present on the occasion to receive the Pakistani ship.

Strengthening the longstanding ties of camaraderie and mutual relationship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka as well as their navies, the consignment of relief materials and HA/DR response teams have been dispatched to Sri Lanka. Earlier, PNS Zulfiquar made a goodwill visit to port of Colombo on 4th May.

In the similar vein, a few more foreign ships are expected to arrive in Sri Lanka in the next couple of days with relief measures, to assist the community battered by adverse weather.
