Rear Admiral Palitha Weerasinghe bids farewell to 34-year-long illustrious naval career

The Director General Engineering, Rear Admiral Palitha Weerasinghe bade farewell to his illustrious naval career, which spanned over 34 years, today (31). According to the naval traditions he was accorded with a guard of honour and fellow naval officers accompanied him to the portals of Naval Headquarters in a customary “vehicle fleet”. Rear Admiral Weerasinghe joined Sri Lanka Navy in 1981 and had served in many ships and establishments during his career in the field of Marine Engineering. Further he had imparted his wealth of knowledge to the betterment of the Naval Engineering branch, gained through various foreign courses and engagements. Moreover the service he had rendered to the Sri Lanka Navy and motherland will be cherished forever.

Upon the retirement of Rear Admiral Palitha Weerasinghe, Rear Admiral Rohitha Premasiri took over the reins of Marine Engineering branch as the new Director General of Engineering.
