Navy assists to conduct the 9th National Scout Jamboree
 

The 9th National Scout Jamboree, organized by the Sri Lanka Scout Association came to an end on 26th February in Jaffna. The theme of this year’s Jamboree was “Friendship and Understanding”. His Excellency the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Hon. Maithripala Sirisena graced the opening ceremony of the Jamboree, where over in which over 10,000 local and foreign Scouts had participated.

This was the very first instance, a National Scout Jamboree was held in the Northern Province and the Sri Lanka Navy extended a commendable contribution to make the event a success. The Sri Lanka Navy personnel educated the participants with an array of awareness programmes in relation to water borne activities, lifesaving, operation of naval ships and craft, under the supervision and guidance of the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva. The naval personnel took much interest to make the event a grand success through their determination and commitment. The teachers and scouts too commented on the praise worthy assistance given by the Sri Lanka Navy.
