AUSTRALIAN PM'S SPECIAL ENVOY CALLS ON COMMANDER OF THE NAVY

Australian Prime Minister's special envoy for Operation Sovereign Borders, Major General (retd) Jim Molan called on Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage at the Naval Headquarters on 18^th January 2014. Major General Molan conveyed his appreciation of the efforts taken by the SLN in curbing human smuggling and stated that his government's decision to gift two patrol boats would be very helpful for the SLN's humanitarian operations to rescue people stranded on the high seas while attempting the perilous journeys.

Major General Molan is a senior advisor on the Australian Government's border protection policy and supports engagement with the regional partners on its implementation. Mementos were also exchanged to mark the occasion.
