NAVY ORGANIZES FIELD HEALTH CLINIC AT BATHALANGUNDUWA

As part of the Navy community development project, the Command Medical Department under the patronage of Commander North Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral NKD Nanayakkara rendered assistance to conduct a field health clinic at Bathalangunduwa on 14 January 2014. A professional medical team coordinated by NARA also provided their services.

Over 200 patients benefitted from the clinic held at the Catholic Church located in the remote island. Treatment for communicable, non communicable diseases and nutritional supplements were given free of charge. Child health screening was also made along with primary family care treatment for the needy families. Residents expressed their gratitude to the Navy for providing them with required medical care as they have no access to a permanent medical facility in their village.
